Scored by Ayub Rana against our published methodology.

Trade The Pool is the rare prop firm focused on real US stocks and ETFs (12,000+ symbols via its trading environment) rather than CFDs, with Day Trade evaluations from $47 (5K buying power) to $1,475 (200K) and separate Swing programs from $69. Drawdowns are static - roughly 2-3% daily and 4% max on Day Trade, 7% max on Swing - and the profit split is 70% (with day-trade/swing payout splits of 70/30 and 50/50 respectively). Payouts run every 14 days for day-trading accounts (weekly for swing) via Rise or crypto, with a $300 minimum. News trading is fully allowed, but EAs and automated trading are strictly prohibited.

Pros & Cons

Trade The Pool pros & cons

The strengths and trade-offs our editors weigh when scoring this firm.

What traders like

  • One of the few prop firms built around US equities rather than forex or futures, advertising access to over 12,000 US listed stocks and ETFs plus warrants and ETNs.
  • Runs both an intraday and a swing programme, and swing accounts may hold positions overnight and over the weekend with no reduction in buying power.
  • Entry pricing is low for the sector: a $5,000 buying power day trade evaluation starts at $47.
  • FLEX evaluations carry no completion deadline, so a trader can finish at their own pace.
  • The operating company is named openly in the terms and is verifiable in a public registry: FIVE PERCENT ONLINE LTD, Companies House number 12553363, active since 9 April 2020.
  • Payouts are available on demand once $300 has accrued, with a minimum of 14 days between payouts and processing quoted at 3 to 5 business days.

What to watch

  • The profit split is 70/30, below the 80 to 90 percent that most firms in this catalogue offer.
  • Equities carry a per share commission of $0.005 with a $0.75 minimum per filled order, a cost structure that percentage based forex firms do not have.
  • The terms prohibit automated trading software, copy trading, arbitrage and high frequency trading, the last defined as trading where the majority of trade durations are measured in a few seconds or less.
  • Day trade accounts lose most of their buying power overnight, with a $200,000 account reduced to $32,000, and the account is fully liquidated 10 minutes before the close.
  • Daily loss and drawdown limits for day trade accounts are not presented consistently across the firm's own programme page and programme terms page, so a prospective trader cannot read one authoritative table.
  • No index futures such as NQ or ES, and no forex, so the firm suits only equity traders.

Rules

Trade The Pool rules, explained

The rules that actually get traders breached: what they are and how this firm sets them.

Trade The Pool trading rules summary
RuleTrade The PoolWhy it matters
Drawdown typeStaticTrailing drawdown follows your equity peak and is the #1 cause of surprise breaches; static drawdown is fixed from starting balance and far more forgiving.
Consistency rule30% cap per dayCaps how much of your total profit can come from a single day. A strict cap can delay or void payouts for traders with a few big wins.
News tradingAllowedSome firms void trades placed around high-impact news releases, which is critical if you trade NFP, CPI, or rate decisions.
Expert advisors (EAs)Not allowedDetermines whether automated strategies and copiers are permitted, and whether an EA can get your account flagged.
Minimum trading days0 daysThe floor on how fast you can pass a phase, which matters if you trade infrequently or want to pass quickly.
Weekend / overnight holdingSwing accounts onlySwing traders need positions to survive the Friday close. Where holding is barred, open trades are closed for you and gaps cannot be traded.
Copy tradingNot allowedDecides whether you can mirror one strategy across several accounts. Most firms that allow it restrict it to accounts you own yourself.
High-frequency tradingNot allowedFirms police latency arbitrage and tick scalping hard, and an HFT breach is one of the most common reasons a passed account is voided.
