Pros & Cons

Take Profit Trader pros & cons

The strengths and trade-offs our editors weigh when scoring this firm.

What traders like

  • Names its live broker. Take Profit Trader states that it 'uses Tradovate as its regulated broker for live (PRO+) accounts', which almost no futures funding firm does.
  • Publishes a dated pass rate against its own marketing: 36.22% of Trading Tests passed between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025.
  • Registry-verifiable operator: TAKEPROFITTRADER LLC is an active Florida LLC, document number L21000145354, with the named founder as its own registered agent.
  • No daily loss limit on any account size, and no time limit on the Trading Test.
  • Withdrawals are available from day one of the PRO account with no payout window and no maximum withdrawal, once the balance clears the buffer.
  • Commissions are published up front, $4.50 per round turn and $1.50 on micros, with the firm disclosing that it sets them itself.

What to watch

  • The drawdown gets stricter after you pass. End-of-day trailing during the Test becomes intraday trailing on the funded PRO account, where unrealised profit drags the minimum balance up in real time.
  • 80% is the profit split on PRO. 90% only arrives on promotion to PRO+, and the firm says there is no single threshold that determines promotion.
  • No total payouts figure is published anywhere on the site.
  • Withdrawals of $250 or less from the wallet carry a $50 fee, which is a heavy proportional charge on small payouts.
  • No automated or bot trading of any kind is permitted, so a whole class of strategy is ruled out.
  • PRO and PRO+ accounts must be flat one minute before, during and one minute after FOMC, Non-Farm Payroll and CPI releases.

Rules

Take Profit Trader rules, explained

The rules that actually get traders breached: what they are and how this firm sets them.

Take Profit Trader trading rules summary
RuleTake Profit TraderWhy it matters
Drawdown typeHybridTrailing drawdown follows your equity peak and is the #1 cause of surprise breaches; static drawdown is fixed from starting balance and far more forgiving.
Consistency rule50% cap per dayCaps how much of your total profit can come from a single day. A strict cap can delay or void payouts for traders with a few big wins.
News tradingRestrictedSome firms void trades placed around high-impact news releases, which is critical if you trade NFP, CPI, or rate decisions.
Expert advisors (EAs)Not allowedDetermines whether automated strategies and copiers are permitted, and whether an EA can get your account flagged.
Minimum trading days5 daysThe floor on how fast you can pass a phase, which matters if you trade infrequently or want to pass quickly.
Challenge time limitNo time limitA deadline forces you to trade whether or not your setup appears. Firms with no time limit let you sit out bad conditions.
Weekend / overnight holdingNot allowedSwing traders need positions to survive the Friday close. Where holding is barred, open trades are closed for you and gaps cannot be traded.
Copy tradingAllowedDecides whether you can mirror one strategy across several accounts. Most firms that allow it restrict it to accounts you own yourself.
